The Penthouse dream

People always say it is good to dream, helps in building aspiration, thoughts which drives all of us, and I dream a lot which drives me. And most of the time I dream of having a long holiday in a Penthouse of a super luxurious hotel.

It’s always nice to be in the lap of luxury, the service, the comfort, the facility, the view and best of the spirits that comes with all this, and I am big fan of Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve, from the house of Black Dog India’s best Scotch Whiskey maker.

Spend long afternoon at the Penthouse Balcony with Scotch in the hand and an amazing view of the endless sea, with on call butler who is all ready to fill me up with this fine Scotch, and in the evening a limo well stocked with this fine Scotch ready to take me to the best places money could buy.

Drive down to the beach facing restaurant, the seat facing the sunlight have the best of Caviar enjoy the sunset with my good Scotch and few “new friends” that I make at the restaurant, as the evening settles it’s time to go back to the best place in the world the Penthouse with my favourite butler waiting with my favourite Scotch in his Hand Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve.

As reach back to the Penthouse I am greeted by the butler with a ready glass of Scotch in his hand, I look at him smile pick up the Scotch and……….

Alarm rings…..

Wake up!

Here my Penthouse dreams ends, a good dream which I would not have minded enjoying a bit more for the day!

7days of Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve

The world is always going to say the Monday is drag....Tuesday is a drag....

Wednesday is the midweek phase planning to what you could do on a Friday, Thursday is the pre-party or the warmup gig, and well The Freedom of Life party on a Friday after work.

This might be the usual stereotype but, imagne what you could do with a midweek fun mantra.

I got one right here. Right beside me, as I type this blog. Its raining outside, as i sip this beautiful drink which lays beside me in a glass, mingling with the freezing rocks. Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve Scotch, a blend of the best selection of single grain whisky and malt whisky which are aged in two separate American casks and then matured in Sherry Cask. And blended together, to create unique drink of awesomeness.

The Triple Gold Reserve is the best to turn your frown upside to big wide smile on a though week day.
On the other hand when it comes to the weekend, the Black Dog brand has a whole is my recommendation to have great Saturday night and the following Sunday too.

Got out with your friends or stay at home, pour some TGR on a TGIF day, mix a few ingridents to enlighten your taste buds. One has to always know that, whoever you maybe, your everday is a challenge, working through the system of life is a challenge, whether it be a weekday or a weekend. So a good bottle of scotch, can really change your day, your perspective.

Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve & Poker

Typically, when I play poker prefer Scotch, as Scotch snobbery has gotten the better of me and for my last 2 Poker games I brought along a Bottle of Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve Scotch perfect for this occasion

That said, my best game of poker was a few weeks ago.  We played 2 rounds.  The first was a tournament format with 8 players and a rs1000 buy in.  1st and 2nd place were paid.  I had my Black Dog - Triple Gold Reserve on hand and enjoyed during the entire tournament.  The good mood this imparted must have increased my ability by some amount, as I took 1st place and won about rs2000.

Once that tournament completed, we moved on to a no limit Poker cash game.  6 players stayed for the fun, so we had a pool of rs2000 up for grabs.  Players were allowed to leave the table whenever they liked, so there was no guaranteed take for this game.

My play was a little more up and down, probably because I was enjoying a slight buzz from the Scotch which also provides a little more bravery and aggressive play.  In spite of that foolishness, I held out and was able to eliminate the last 2 players and walk away with the rs2000 that had been paid in.  I basically wiped everyone out.

My investment was rs1000 for the buy-ins, and about rs1500 for the Scotch I drank.  I walked away with rs8000, so my profit lined up to be about r5500, which is about the cost of another two bottle of Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve.

My conclusion was that Scotch had improved my poker playing ability, as this was one of my best performances at a home game in a while.

So I tried it again.  This time with other brand of Scotch.  The 2nd time didn't work quite as well, as I played 2 tournaments, finished 2nd and cashed in the first and flamed out in the 2nd.  I broke even overall, but lost money when taking into account the Scotch I drank.

My new conclusion: Try Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve again and see if that was the magic bullet, so to speak.

How to Store Your Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve Scotch Whisky?

If you’re like me, your ability to buy scotch far outpaces your ability to drink it. Every time I go through Duty Free, I seem to leave with a handful of bottles and now I have at least a few bottles of Black Dog Scotch I haven’t even opened yet! Fortunately, like wine, the rules for storing Scotch are simple and it is far less delicate than wine!

Avoid Light, Air, Heat

The enemies of Scotch, like its younger cousin beer, are light, air, and heat. The key to storing your Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve Scotch so that it remains unchanged is to minimize its contact to all three:

Why does light affect Scotch? Unlike beer, which is usually bottled in dark brown bottles, Scotch is generally stored in lighter colored bottles, usually clear, to show of its amazing radiant color. Beer is stored in dark bottles to protect it from light, which changes the chemical composition of hops. When you boil hops, it releases/produces isohumulones, aka isomerized alpha acids, which produces the same chemicals that skunks spray when they come into contact with visible or UV light (hence the term “skunked beer”). Scotch is less affected by this but it still is a factor.

Why does air affect Scotch? The reason air affects Scotch has to do with oxidation, the same reason it affects wines and other spirits once they’ve been open.

Why does heat affect Scotch? It’s really a mixture of heat and humidity but it has to do with evaporation. Scotch, unlike wine, doesn’t mature in the bottle so there’s really not an “ideal” temperature (unlike wine, which is said to mature best between 55° and 60°F). You want to keep it fairly cool because a higher, dryer temperature will result in faster evaporation if the seal of the cork is not 100%.

How to Store Black Dog Triple Gold Scotch Whisky?
Knowing that light, air and heat will all change your spirit, the key is to find a cool dark place to store your Scotch. I keep mine in glass cases in the basement and I store my bottles upright. The reason wine is stored sideways on racks is because you want to keep the wine corks in contact with the wine. As wine ages, the corks will crack and keeping them in contact with the wine will help them retain moisture. With Scotch, it’s recommended that you store it upright because the higher alcohol content can degrade the cap.

Once a bottle is opened, you introduce air into the mix and oxidation begins. In general, you can keep a bottle of scotch around for about a year (though I wouldn’t toss it unless it tastes bad) after it’s been opened, longer if you suck the air out of the bottle. If you get down to the last few drams, be aware that there’s more air inside now and the timeline shortens.

So keep it dark and cool (and sealed!) and you should be fine however you store it.
